Supervise by Joyce Schafer

My granddaughter, Keely, and I were playing outside when she decided that she needed a drink. After naming off the different drink choices she decided on chocolate milk. As she was going into the house she turned to me and said “Grandma, you might want to come in and supervise.”

My relationship with God is a lot like that. Even though there are many times in my life when I can do things on my own, it always goes a lot smoother if I ask God to “supervise.” I did not need to supervise Keely preparing her drink. She did a perfect job of getting a glass, pouring her milk, adding the chocolate syrup [ok, maybe I did tell her when it was enough] and stirring it up. She did not make a mess but it was comforting to her to know that I was there in case she did make a mess to help clean it up.

I am thankful for many things---my family, my friends, my job, my church and especially for a God who continues to love and “supervise” me.

The Healing Prayer by Donna (Ensign) Woods - A Grandma

Thankyou for being the God of mercy and love,
And for the multitude of blessings you send from above.

The suffering of children, we don't understand,
But, we know all is in control, of your mighty hand.

Today, I humbly come, to kneel at the throne.
To intercede for Madison, your precious own.

A beautiful child, she's one of your best.
So, for her, I put the power of prayer to the test.

As I kneel and pray, I knock at your door.
May she feel your presence as never before.

May the Holy Spirit guide me, as I prayerfully intercede,
And I ask that you supply, for her every need.

Place your healing hands upon her, this very hour.
Bless each cell in her body, with your awesome power.

Let her feel your healing, flow through each vein.
I empower this prayer, by your Son's holy name.

Strengthen her body, to have victory in trial.
Bless her with joy, that makes her smile.

I can't understand why she must endure so much.
Please bless her, with your healing touch.

Send angels to guard her, both day and night,
And equip them well, to aid in her fight.

Shield her Lord, from this vicious attack.
Drive out the cancer, don't let it come back.

Your Word says, "ask and you shall receive...."
I'm asking Lord...and I do believe....

Restore her health...Oh Lord, I pray.
I ask for your blessings today.

Heal her Lord, in your awesome way,
In Jesus name, I constantly pray.

Amen

I challenge each and every one of you to pray this prayer for Maddy and Elijah
.....and every child you know that has been diagnosed with cancer.

First Day of Spring by Susan Shull

Today was the first day of spring for me. Never mind the date on the calendar—March 12. Never mind the forecast for Friday—cold temps once again. For me spring started today.
The sun shone brightly filling my classroom and my heart with new light. The air was crisp, but carried with it the breathe-deep-and-fill-your-lungs promise of warmer temperatures, daffodils, and green grass. Gone was the blah, blah, blah atmosphere at school. The kids entered the building with smiles on their faces and new excitement for the possibilities that always accompany 4th quarter—the best of the year with 8th graders. They really do some serious bonding as they realize that they will soon be in high school and may never be in class again with those they have spent the last 8 years loving/hating. It is fun to watch.

After school, Alivia and I took a trip to the park to enjoy the sunshine. Faith was with her mommy and daddy so it was just the two of us this time. We roamed from one end of the playground to another swinging, sliding, teeter-tottering—even playing in the sandbox, until we found something inconveniently left by a neighborhood cat. Gross! There is something very special about walking hand in hand with an innocently curious little granddaughter skipping along by my side. What a blessing!

I am so grateful that God created seasons as a visible yearly testament of his love for us. I imagine just as I enjoy watching a granddaughter delighting in the world around her, God probably gets a kick out of watching his “kids” enjoying what he has made for us. So as of today, it is out with the gray days of winter and in with the promise of hope and new life that a new spring brings!
